Mythos STS Multichannel Speaker System
HomeTheaterSound.com
by Roger Kanno (August 1, 2009 )
"The pinnacle of performance "
"The Mythos STS speakers comprise a compact system with striking looks and astonishing performance at a reasonable price. To my mind, there is currently nothing else on the market quite like the Mythos STS SuperTowers, or this surround system based on them. These eye-catching loudspeakers give up very little in the way of performance to more conventional-looking designs, and in most respects are at the pinnacle of performance for speakers in this price range."

"Put these DefTechs at the top of your list. "
"...the ProCinema 1000 does continue DefTech’s tradition of high performance at a bargain price."
"The ProMonitor 1000 exudes elegance."
"Definitive Technology’s ProCinema 1000 system is a killer combination of looks and performance. Despite its sleek, high-tech-looking cabinets, it gives up little in performance to larger, conventional bookshelf speakers; the biggest compromise you might need to make will be in ultimate volume level. And with its bargain price of $1724, you won’t have to pay through the nose for this system’s looks and performance -- something you often have to do with lifestyle speakers. Put these DefTechs at the top of your audition list."

SuperCube Reference
HomeTheaterReview.com
by Dr. Ken Taraszaka (February 23, 2009 )
"...one of the best subwoofers on the planet.
"
...the SuperCube Reference promises to be one of the last subwoofers you'll ever need to buy.
The drums blew me away. Whether I was listening at reasonable wife-tolerated levels or the sickest of max volume, everything stayed together and was clear and detailed.
The Definitive Technology SuperCube Reference can provide all the bass you could ever need for a room of almost any size...This sub plays to extreme listening levels and, while I am a big fan of multiple subwoofers, I am completely happy with my single SuperCube Reference. It is capable of filling my large room with powerful and accurate bass and does equally as well with shaking the floors for movies as it does filling in the bottom end for music.

The Mythos STS SuperTower system is Sound & Vision magazine's Audio Product of the Year
Sound & Vision magazine
by Sound & Vision magazine (December 2008 )
"Sound & Vision’s 2008 Audio Product of the Year. "
"When S&V handed out a 2007 Editors’ Choice award to Def Tech’s Mythos ST SuperTower speaker, we called it ‘the essence of elegance, both visually and sonically.’ Well, the same thing can be said of the newest Mythos model, the STS.
A slightly smaller version of the ST with the same built-in 300-watt powered sub, the STS also manages to deliver dynamic, full-range sound from a stylish, slender — and, in this case, less costly — package. When bundled with the company’s Gem surrounds and its new, multi- purpose Mythos Nine speaker for a center speaker, the performance of this $4,616 package was nothing short of stunning. The STS SuperTower-based system might not be playing in the cost-no-object high-performance leagues, but it manages to get all of the music and home theater basics exactly right, and does so for a reasonable price. And that’s why Def Tech’s STS rig richly deserves to be named Sound & Vision’s 2008 Audio Product of the Year."

"Its combination is...unrivalled at its price point. "
“If you are looking for a speaker in this price range or even a little higher, be sure to audition this one and prepare to be amazed. The Mythos STS is one of the most exciting products that I have come across in a long time. If I were shopping for a speaker in this price range, it would be at the top of my list. Its combination of beautiful contemporary styling, small footprint, powered woofer section and high performance is unrivalled at its price point."

Definitive Technology SSA-50/ProSub800 Subwoofer
Playback Magazine
by Playback Magazine (2008 )
"Sounds so good it doesn't seem like a single-box rig. "
The single-box surround speaker category is really hot, with new manufacturers trotting out new models on an almost monthly basis, each vying for a piece of the action. It seems like most manufacturers are busily cramming more and more features into ever skinnier and skinnier surround systems. That's all well and good, but sound quality too often gets short shrift, so I was pleased to note that Definitive Technology went the other way and built a gizmo-free design that's intended for use with a decent quality A/V receiver. The SSA-50 Mythos Solo Surround Array is that speaker.

Definitive Technology Mythos SSA-50 Speaker System
Home Theater
by Darryl Wilkinson (August, 2008 )
"Surround sound-friend or faux? "
When Definitive Technology originally introduced its Mythos line of speakers, the slender, curved, aluminum-cabinet tower models were matched by equally svelte,
under-5-inch-deep on-wall and center-channel models using the same form and style turned horizontally. A while ago, the company literally expanded the Mythos center-channel speakers by packing the front LCR Speakers
into one horizontal cabinet to help appease the speaker-phobic folks in the world. Now Definitive has decided to take the next step and make a Mythos all-in-one-cabinet,
five-channel surround speaker system.

Definitive Technology's Mythos ST Speakers Deliver Deliciously Mel-lifluous Sound.

"The Mythos ST SuperTowers astound us by reproducing anything we throw at them with incredible accuracy "
The Mythos ST SuperTowers astound us by reproducing anything we throw at them with incredible accuracy. From UB40's
thumping reggae bass line to the lilting layers of nuance in Enya's New Age notes, Definitive's speakers deliver.
Even Love Sounds spectacular, Ronda agrees, as I remind her that we're listening to it through a $900 integrated audio receiver, not the multi-million-dollar
system on which we'd hear it while seeing the show just a few months earlier in Las Vegas.
